In a broad sense, your immune system helps you fight disease.
There are two parts to the immune system:
Non-specific immunity + Specific immunity.
Nonspecific immunity
Consists of your skin, saliva, mucus, etc. Skin is the most important part in keeping diseases from entering your body. Saliva and mucus produce chemicals known as lysozomes which kill diseases.
Specific immunity
If the disease gets past nonspecific immunity, specific immunity kicks in. It is sort of a long process but I will keep it short. First certain white cells identify the disease. This is so the body can recognize it if you get the same disease in the future. The next step is when the body releases cells which produce chemicals to kill the disease.
Hope this helped.

They fight bacterial infections.
The ability to fight off diseases is known as immunity. It involves the body's defense mechanisms, including the immune system, which helps to identify and destroy pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, and other harmful agents. Immunity can be acquired naturally through exposure to pathogens or artificially through vaccinations.
The immune system is aided by mainly Vitamin C which helps boost the immune system to build defenses to most diseases. Also it is called immunity which heps protect the body from an infection after the first time.
It is thousand times easier to fight bacterial diseases in US than Africa. But when it comes to viral diseases, the difference is less dramatic.
A vaccines helps because they put some of the disease in your body then your body can get use to it so if you get that disease your body can easily fight it out of you!
