The vaccines won't help you if you're already exposed, but it probably won't harm you either.

To reduce the spread of HPV, males AND females can go to a clinic or their primary doctor and get the HPV vaccine in 3 different doses at 3 different times. If someone ALREADY has HPV, the HPV vaccine should still be taken because there are over 100 strains of HPV, and you may not have one of the strains that the vaccine prevents.
What happens if you don't take second dose of the HPV vaccine?
The best immune response with the HPV vaccine is after 3 doses. If you miss the second dose, get it as sson as you can and then get the third dose - at the appropriate interval if possible. The basic idea is to get three does and not wory toom much about meeting an exact schedule. If you stop after the first dose, your protection will be much less than if you get all three doses.
What is the prevention of HPV?
There are 2 ways to prevent HPV. One is to use safe sex methods. This means using condoms for men and especially female condoms. Also there is a vaccine available which protects against 2 of the worst causes of cancer.

YES, it is highly recommended that all women get vaccinated against HPV. Even if you have already contracted one strain of HPV there are still other types that could affect your health. Getting vaccinated will not make the current strain go away faster or prevent you from getting that type again, but it is still recommended.
