You need to learn how to deal with stress without panicking - that's where meditation and positive thinking comes in. Start learning something like yoga or any other meditation so that you learn how to relax whenever you want to. Also, deep breathing helps - it is physically impossible for someone to panic if they're focusing on breathing deeply. Learn how to replace panicked thinking with positive thinking as well - if you have a thought like "I'm going to die" tell yourself "STOP! (it's important to think that word because it helps you know when you need to change your thinking) While people do die suddenly, they don't die because of a panic attack. I can get through this by breathing deeply and relaxing."

It is my belief that Serotonin is the issue. An eating disorder is usually accompanied by a panic or anxiety issue too. When you dont eat your body can not produce Serotonin. So, you do not have panic attacks or major anxiety. The person does not know this, it just falls into a pattern and then wham! Eating disorder patterns. Undiagnosed panic or anxiety is the issue, I believe.
