It depends of the stiffness. If the morning stiffness in joints it is related to an autoimmune process. If you mean stiffness with numbness and tingling after you had a part of your body in an wear position, it is related to low blood flow to that part of the body
A person that has a fracture will usually have a cast for a few weeks. After the cast is taken off, the joints will feel stiff. This is because the muscles have not been moving as much as they did before the fracture. With therapy, the stiffness will go away.

Hello jim, when did your stiffness start? and where do you have stiffness? only in your legs or other joints as well? is it worse in the morning? do you have any other health issues other than hypertension?
If someone has polymyalgia rheumatica, they will more then likely endure stiffness in their neck, hips, and both shoulders. This stiffness will be worse in the morning and after long periods of inactivity. This stiffness will also be followed by limited range of motion in those joints.
