"The Worst That Could Happen" is a 1968 single recorded by the group The Brooklyn Bridge after the Jimmy Webb song appeared on the 1967 Fifth Dimension album "The Magic Garden". The song deals with a romantic breakup and an ensuing engagement. The group was nominally "Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge", for the groups lead singer, Johnny Mastrangelo (born May 7, 1939), who joined the Del-Satins in 1967 after singing with the Crests from 1957-1960. The group was renamed after incorporating the brass group "Rhythm Method" in 1968. The song was included on the list of "songs to avoid playing" by Clear Channel after the attacks of September 11, 2001.
