Urethral stricture
medical term is urethrostenosis
Urethrostenosis is abnormal narrowing of the urethra.
Dilating the urethra is done when there is a stricture (abnormal narrowing) of the urethra in order to make the urethra wider.
urethrostenosisThe urethra is the tube from the bladder that empties urine through the penis. The urethra goes through the prostate gland. When a prostate gland becomes enlarged, it presses on the urethra and narrows the opening, thus causes urination problems.
The urethra can be subject to narrowing. The stretch methods are to assure the passage stays open and allows for urine to pass through.
There is also a possibility of permanent damage to the bladder or urethra. The urethra may become scarred, causing a permanent narrowing, or stricture.
Urinary meatal stenosis is a medical term that refers to narrowing of the opening of the urethra.
There is no defined region of urethra: it begins a at the bladder and ends at the head of the penis. The external urethra, the area that you can see, is called the meatus.
Urethra
The structure that connects the epididymis to the urethra is called the vas deferens.
Urethrosis refers to a narrowing or constriction of the urethra, the tube that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of the body. This condition can lead to urinary difficulties, including pain, reduced urine flow, or urinary retention. Urethrosis can be caused by various factors, including injury, infection, or inflammation. Treatment often involves procedures to widen the urethra or address the underlying cause of the narrowing.
Narrowing of the largest artery in the body is called AS (aortic stenosis).
Narrowing of the blood vessels is called atherosclerosis.
