The anterior iliac spine can be described in simple terms as a place where you might "place your hands on your hips". The abscess is an infected space there. An abscess is an enclosed collection of pus, somewhere in the body. It is the result of the body's defensive reaction to foreign material.
An abscess is the last stage of a tissue infection that begins with a process called inflammation (redness). The common findings of inflammation-heat, redness, swelling, and pain-easily identify superficial abscesses. Abscesses in other places may produce only generalized symptoms such as fever and discomfort.
The anterior superior iliac spine is located in the pelvic region, at the front of the hip bone (ilium). It serves as an attachment point for various hip and thigh muscles, including the sartorius muscle.
The iliac crest
The iliac crest, anterior superior iliac spine, and posterior superior iliac spine are surface features along the ilium that mark attachment sites for large hip muscles like the gluteus medius and gluteus minimus.

The inguinal region is bordered superiorly by the inguinal ligament, inferiorly by the junction of the thigh and pelvis, medially by the pubic symphysis, and laterally by the anterior superior iliac spine.
Femoral pulse: located in the inner thigh, at the mid-inguinal point, halfway between the pubic symphysis and anterior superior iliac spine (femoral artery). (from Wikipedia)
Ilium - you have one either side of your midline. The continue from the sacrum at the back to the pubis at the front. The uppermost part is called the iliac crest. You can normally feel the Anterior Superior Iliac spine as your front "hip bone" and the Posterior Superior Iliac spine as your rear "hip bone" - they are different parts of the same continuous bone.
The sartorius muscle connects the anterior superior iliac spine of the pelvis to the medial surface of the tibia, in the lower leg. It is the longest muscle in the human body and helps with flexing, abducting, and rotating the hip joint.

The muscle that originate from ASIS is sartorius muscle. Inguinal ligament also originate here. By Binaisa Deus medical student KIU Uganda
Enthesophyte formation at the ASIS and AIIS bilaterally refers to the development of bony growths at the attachment sites of muscles and tendons on the anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS) and anterior inferior iliac spine (AIIS) of the pelvis. This is a common finding in individuals with degenerative changes or repetitive stress at these areas, and may be associated with conditions like hip impingement or osteoarthritis. Treatment options may include managing pain and inflammation, physical therapy, and in severe cases, surgery.
The sartorius muscle attaches to the anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS) of the pelvis at its origin and inserts onto the medial aspect of the tibia at the pes anserinus. This muscle runs diagonally across the thigh, contributing to hip and knee movements.
