"Asbestos poisoning" is not a term that is used when discussing asbestos. It implies an adverse effect occurring soon after exposure to too much asbestos but that is not what happens. The adverse effects of asbestos exposures occur only many years after asbestos exposure began.
Asbestos poisoning is a serious health risk. There are a number of symptoms associated with asbestos poisoning. Some of the symptoms are chest pain, coughing, coughing up mucous, and loss of appetite. Asbestos poisoning may lead to a type of cancer called Mesothelioma.

There is no disease called "asbestos poisoning." The dieseases caused by asbestos are asbestosis, lung cancer, and mesothelioma. Plumbers who worked in the 1970s and before might have suffered one or more of these diseases. Those who began wroking in the early 1980s or later probably will not, because asbestos disturbances were more tightly regulated and controlled.
Asbestos exposure typically occurs through inhalation of asbestos fibers present in the air from sources such as workplace environments with asbestos-containing materials, living in older buildings with deteriorating asbestos insulation, or from natural deposits of asbestos in the environment. Additionally, exposure may also occur through contact with asbestos-containing products or materials during activities like construction, renovation, or repair work.
First- a disclaimer- I am a Safety Professional, but I am not a doctor. Some of this you really want to discuss with a doctor that has a good background in occupational medicine. Asbestos fibers are like tiny spears. When you breathe them, they stick into the air sacks of your lungs- and scar tissue grows around them. The scar tissue is high in iron. It has a unique appearance on Xrays, and in tissue samples. A good pathologist should be able to tell if your husband had asbestosis (asbestos poisoning) Asbestos is believed to be what is called a "co-carcinogen". If you smoke, it increases the chances of getting lung cancer. Was your husband's death caused by- or aided by- exposure to asbestos? No way to tell from here- and not everyone that gets exposed to ANY level of asbestos is killed by it. You may want to have a doctor that works with asbestos patients review your husband's xrays, and see what he says. I wish I could give you a definite answer, but it will take a medical professional to do that. I'm sorry-

Buildings were often built with materials that contained asbestos. Asbestos abatement is the removal of the asbestos, or other treatment such as encapsulation, that will prevent asbestos fibers from being released into the air.
