Blood vessels are pipes or tubes that carry blood all over the body and return blood to the heart. There are 3 types: Veins, Arteries and capillaries. Veins: * Carry blood to the heart. * Have thin walls. An example of a vein is a pulmonrary vein. These vessels carry blood (rich in oxygen)from the lungs to the heart. Arteries: * Carry blood away from the heart. * Pump blood all around the body. * Are under high pressure. * Have thick walls. An example of a artery is the Aorta. This vessel is the main vessel in the heart. This vessel transports blood (rich in oxygen) to all parts of the body (except the lungs). Capillaries: * Main function is gas exchange. * Located between veins and arteries. Hope this helped:-)
