U.DERU

The axis (second cervical vertebra) has a small flat articular surface called the odontoid process or dens which articulates with the atlas (first cervical vertebra) to allow for rotation of the head.
Klippel Feil syndrome is believed to occur during very early fetal development, when the cervical vertebrae do not segment normally. The exact mechanism that causes the defect is unkown
The joints in the back are called facet joints. Each vertebra has two sets of facet joints. One pair faces upward (superior articular facet) and one downward (inferior articular facet). There is one joint on each side (right and left). Facet joints are hinge-like and link vertebrae together. They are located at the back of the spine (posterior).
This syndrome presents with a variety of neurological type smptoms like vertigo, facial pain, or sinus pain. It seems to come from misalignments of the cranial bones and/or misalignments in the cervical spine putting pressure on the nerves. It is often referred to as Barre-Lieou syndrome.
The facet joints are located in the spinal canal. Bilateral facet arthropathy is arthritis in the facet joints of the back.

Cervical ribs are extra ribs that develop in the neck region, typically arising from the seventh cervical vertebra. They are considered a rare congenital anomaly and can be asymptomatic or cause symptoms such as pain or numbness in the shoulder or arm due to compression of nearby structures. In some cases, cervical ribs may also be associated with other medical conditions such as thoracic outlet syndrome.
