What is isoelectricity?

In medicines, isoelectricity pertains to a reversal of brain wave direction. As an example, in some rare cases for those who take Lithium Carbonate (usually for manic or Bipolar disorder), the direction that their brain waves move will reverse. There has not been any cases of this being harmful, yet why this happens is utterly unknown.
