The large intestine is responsible for reabsorbing excess water from digested food material. As the material passes through the large intestine, the water is reabsorbed, forming more solid waste known as feces.
Indigestible material in the small intestine is moved to the large intestine for further processing. It passes through the digestive system and eventually exits the body as waste. The small intestine absorbs nutrients from the digested food and liquids before passing on the indigestible material.

The large intestine, specifically the colon, reabsorbs water from nondigestible material that passes through the digestive system. This helps to form solid feces by removing excess water and maintaining the body's hydration balance.
Partially digested food enters and passes through the Small Intestine before it goes to the Large.
