I'm not sure why this question is in cardiovascular health and I'm not a medical doctor. I will assume this question was placed in the wrong category and you are asking about he field of engineering.

Structural engineers do a wide variety of tasks. They general will work with architects after their plans and models are complete. The architect will explain to the engineer what they building will look like and the structural engineers job is to plan out how the frame will be built. Structural engineers generally have great math skills and must calculate the amount of live and dead load on a buildings structure (frame, i.e. studs, beams, ect.) and have to design a frame that will withstand these loads. They are responsible for why skyscrapers stand up and why bridges can withstand the heavy loads placed upon them each day. I hope I answered what you were looking for in this question as I am assuming you are a student considering the field. NOTE: This answer is simplified to a great deal.
