The foreskin is a natural part of the body that does not have to be removed simply because it is there. It has a function and unless there is a problem with it it should be left alone. It is natural for the foreskin to be somewhat tight at birth, and phimosis as a pathological condition cannot be diagnosed during infancy. Circumcision may be medically indicated if problems persist beyond a certain age, but standard infant circumcision is unnecessary.
