Impacted fracture
Well there is the simple description 'Crush Fracture'. One might also refer to it as a comminuted fracture, meaning the bone is broken into two or more pieces, and add the prefix open or closed, denoting whether the bone is visible through a wound.
It means to break something.
Definition: Fine ridges on a fracture surface, parallel to the direction of propagation of the fracture. source: About.com
I don't know the specific definition but a remote fracture is one that is not fresh. As in an old fracture. There is probably a rule that it is >6 month or >1 year or something.
A fracture, abbreviated fx. There is many different types of fractures. A comminuted fracture breaks completely off and is shattered in many areas. greenstick fracture is a half break. Compound is broken off rigidly. A impacted fracture is broken completely off but it is a clean break. Colles fracture occurs in the wrist. These are to name only a few common ones.
A severely angulated laterally and anteriorly fracture that is slightly impacted means that the bones in the area of the fracture do not line up. The bones are actually lying at an angle to each other.
The characteristics of an impacted fracture include pain, tenderness, and swelling. There are also cases of deformity at the site of the break, discolored skin, bruising, and sometimes even an open wound. Only a doctor can diagnose this particular break, so if you are experiencing any of these problems, you may want to visit one immediately.
