What is the difference between acne and a pimple?

There is no difference, they are two different words for the same exact thing. It has been postulated that the noun "Zit" was coined as an Onomatopoeia for the sound made when you pop a pimple.

The difference is that a zit and herpes is that a zit in the pubic area perhaps could be due to ingrown hair or infected area. Usually has hair in the zit. Plug it out and you might just be ok. I rather you go to a doctor though.

Herpes in the pubic area does NOT look like a zit. You have atleast 5-9 consecutive.blisters lined up together and will NOT have hair in the infected area.

I think that the difference between acne and pimples is this.

Acne can sometimes be all over your face and clumped together as well as pimples but pimples are more likely to be spread out and would usually be more likely to fall on top on your forehead. I also think that acne is more likely to be all over you face although many people say that they are the same because pimples are one form of acne. Well, if this is true then there is very little difference between the two.

Zit is a slang word that can mean any kind of acne lesion, but most often means an inflamed lesion such as a pimple, pustule or cyst.

A blackhead is a noninflamed lesion that is the accumulation of too many dead skin cells trapped inside the pore. It turns black at the surface because when exposed to air it oxidizes.

All acne starts the same way, with too many dead skin cells being shed inside the pore which forms a plug. If the body sees this as a foreign invader, it sends white blood cells to the area and it becomes inflamed. This forms the pimple, pustule or cyst. If not, it becomes a blackhead.
