The two disorders are very different. Schizophrenia is a psychotic disorder which usually involves hallucinations such as hearing voices, bizarre behavior, paranoia and disorganized thoughts and behaviors. Medication is necessary to treat this disorder, as it is a medical condition. Therapy does not generally help other than to help the patient cope with stress and comply with medications. Narcissistic personality disorder is a different type of disorder. It is not medical, as it deals more with the organization of a person's personality. It does not include symptoms such as hallucinations, disorganization, etc. There is no medical treatment for this disorder, treatment includes intensive therapy for many years. A patient with Narcissistic PD shows traits such as lack of empathy for others, feelings of superiority and a pathological need to be associated with wealth, success and fame.
Yes, in my opinion, narcissism is a type of schizophrenia.
Not all mental abusers are. A narcissist is someone who suffers from a specific personality disorder called "Narcissistic Personality Disorder." This disorder is relatively rare. Not all abusers suffer from the Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) - although many of them have narcissistic traits.
Schizophrenia has symptoms that would not be seen in Paranoid Personality Disorder. While PPD have delusions of persecution, they generally do not have hallucinations of an audio, or visual nature.
No, it is not. Other psychotic disorders can include delusions of grandeur as well. So can narcissistic personality disorder.
Some good movies and films for studying personality disorders are "Gone With the Wind" (narcissistic personality disorder), "Funny Girl" (narcissistic personality disorder), "Girl, Interrupted" (borderline personality disorder), "The Godfather" (antisocial personality disorder), and "Wall Street" (antisocial personality disorder).

Narcissistic personality disorder or antisocial personality disorder would be candidates.
narcissistic

At one point, schizophrenia was called "dementia praecox". Some people may say that "multiple personality disorder", "split personality", or "dissociative identity disorder" are other names for schizophrenia. However, the condition that these names describe is not the same as schizophrenia.
Paranoid Personality Disorder is a diagnosis in itself .. it has nothing to do with Paranoid Schizophrenia.. Paranoid Schizophrenia is a mental ILLNESS and Paranoid Personality Disorder is a DISORDER! mental illnesses are treatable with medication... mental DISORDERS are not treatable with any type of medication. both are seperate diagnosis`s of their own
