First of all, the digestive system is full of organs, not muscles. Mouth- mechanically breaks down food by churning and cutting. Esophagus- the long tube the links to the liver, and passes the food down to then liver. Stomach- the holding place for the food for 4-6 hours. The food is then chemically broken down. Pancreas- functions to produce enzymes to send all over the body. Liver- produces bile Gall bladder- stores bile Duodenum- the small tube that links the small intestine and stomach. Small intestine- the 20 ft. Long tube that food passes through to get to the large intestine. Large intestine- the 4ft long tube that passes food to the rectum. Rectum- the place that stores food and waste. Anus- the opening and the end of the rectum that eliminates waste.
smooth muscles
The digestive system does not work with the immune system to regulate body functions.
The digestive system uses muscles to digest food. For example, stomach muscles help to break down food.
The muscular system is the mechanical force behind the digestive system. Beginning when you take a bite, your muscular system aids your digestive system. Chewing and swallowing are done by the muscular system; muscles surrounding your stomach churn up food to aid digestion; muscles transport digested food through your intestines and eventually out of your body. (The muscles for chewing and swallowing are voluntary muscles; the rest are involuntary.)
Elimination is one of the functions of the digestive system. The movement of undigested food in the form of feces is one of the functions of the excretory system.
The first of the two functions of the digestive system is to break down nutrients. The second function is the absorption of nutrients.
The digestive system comprises of organs that work together in order to ensure that food is properly processed through the body. Examples of such organs include the stomach and the intestines.
it has the same functions
The Esophagus, tongue, stomach, small and large intestines, and the rectum are the major muscles in the digestive system
The ring shaped muscle in the digestive system is the lower esophageal sphincter (LES).
Involuntary muscles control functions like breathing and digestion.
no it is not part of the digestive system.
