We presume that you refer to the alter identities of dissociative identity disorder. There are well-received reports in the literature of alter identities in excess of 20.

There is a great deal of controversy over DID, and some authorities hold that it does not really exist, or that it is the result of suggestion during therapy. In any case, the circumstances surrounding the disorder do not lend themselves to accurate counts, since not all alters reveal themselves during therapy. The number is far less important than the existence of the problem, in any case.
