The Retina
The inside lining of the eye is predominantly covered by the retina, which consists of layers of nerve cells. The retina appears red due to the blood vessels that supply the eye.
The lining of the visible outer surface of the eye is called the conjunctiva. It is a thin, transparent layer of tissue that covers the white part of the eye (sclera) and lines the inside of the eyelids. The conjunctiva helps protect the eye from foreign particles and infection.

The reflective layer in the lining of the eye is called the tapetum lucidum. It is a layer of tissue located behind the retina in animals that helps enhance night vision by reflecting light back through the retina.
