A shoulder that becomes scarred and cannot move.
The treatment for a frozen shoulder and shoulder pain depends on the underlying cause and severity of the condition. Here are some possible treatment
adhesive capsulitis of shoulder (i.e. frozen shoulder)
When there is inflammation in the subacromial bursa (a part of the shoulder joint), there is pain on elevation of the shoulder above the horizontal. This condition is variously called subacromial bursitis and shoulder impingement syndrome. If this condition is left untreated, eventually scar tissue will form in the shoulder joint. This scar tissue permanently restricts motion of the shoulder. This condition is called adhesive capsulitis, or frozen shoulder. Frozen shoulder is treated conservatively by physical therapy, but if that doesn't work the orthopedist has to do one of 2 things: violently wrench the shoulder to break up the scar tissue, or do surgery to go in and break up the scar tissue.
It's a serious medical condition involving the connective tissue surrounding the glenohumeral joint of the shoulder. This becomes inflamed and stiff, restricting motion and causing chronic pain.
If polymyalgia rheumatic is severe enough, it can lead to shoulder conditions such as adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder). This is a condition where the shoulder capsule becomes inflamed and stiff, causing pain and reduced range of motion in the shoulder joint.
Medical conditions such as diabetes, overactive or underactive thyroid can be a cause of frozen shoulder. Immobility or reduced mobility due to arm fracture, stroke, or surgeries such as mastectomy can also be a different cause.
do you mean the medical condition cold shoulder? If yes have you tried acupuncture. A warm smile....
Frozen shoulder restricts the movement in the shoulder of one or both arms. It typically affects persons between the ages 40 and 60. In 70% of the known cases the condition affects women. Other than age one of the most prominent risk factors is having diabetes. Patients with diabetes are two to four times more likely to develop a frozen shoulder.
When a joint becomes frozen and unable to move, it is known as a condition called adhesive capsulitis or frozen shoulder. This occurs due to inflammation and tightening of the capsule surrounding the joint, leading to decreased range of motion and pain. Physical therapy and gentle stretching exercises are often recommended to improve mobility in frozen shoulder.
If your shoulder commonly comes out of its socket, then it is a preexisting condition. If it is the first time you have dislocated your shoulder or if you have never dislocated your shoulder, then it is not a preexisting condition.
Cryosurgery is sometimes used for precancerous lesions of the cervix.
