There is a lower back muscle called the latissimus dorsi and your deltoids and trapezius make up your upper back. The deltoids are on your shoulder and your trapezius is the muscle on the back of your neck.
latissimus dorsi...the lats are from the lowest part of the back and attach on the front of the humerus (upper arm bone)
Source(s):exercise science majorYou need muscles in your back so that you can move your back, and the rest of your body. The muscles on your back connect to a bunch of places, like the hips, shoulders, ribs, etc. They let you twist around and basically let you function as a normal human being. The muscles over your ribs are particularly important- they pull your ribcage out as you breathe, allowing you to live!
The posterior or rear Deltoids is the section of the muscle found on the back of the shoulder
