Veins primarily carry deoxygenated blood back to the heart, with the exception of the pulmonary veins, which transport oxygenated blood from the lungs. The blood in veins also contains waste products, such as carbon dioxide and metabolic byproducts, which are to be expelled from the body. Additionally, veins can carry small amounts of nutrients and hormones, although these are more commonly transported by arteries.

The blood in our heart is carried to all parts of our body. The heart pumps the blood, and the blood is carried by veins. The veins are all over our body. They have a system; out to our body, and back to the heart.
The pulmonary veins are the only veins in the body that carry oxygenated blood. Like all veins the blood in the pulmonary veins travel toward the heart.

A blood seems blue in veins because when a blood is in veins they are low in oxygen and therefore look blue. When they get oxygenated, they become red and are carried by the artery.
