The brachial plexus.
The brachial plexus are nerves that leave the cervical vertebrae (but originate in the brain) and extend to peripheral structures (muscles/organs) to transmit motor and sensory nerve impulses.
The brachial plexus is a network of nerves that originate from the lower cervical and upper thoracic spinal cord. It controls the muscles of the shoulder, arm, and hand, and provides feeling to the upper limb. Damage to the brachial plexus can result in weakness or loss of function in the affected areas.
The median nerve is a member of the brachial plexus. It is formed by contributions from the lateral and medial cords of the brachial plexus, primarily from spinal nerve roots C6, C7, C8, and T1.
The cervical (C1-C4) and brachial (C5-T1) plexuses innervate the muscles and skin of the neck, shoulder, arm, and hand. They are responsible for motor control and sensation in these areas. The C1-C4 plexus primarily innervates the muscles of the neck and head, while the brachial plexus primarily innervates the upper extremities.
Brachial plexus (C5-T1)
The radial nerve is derived from the posterior cord of the brachial plexus, which is formed by the fusion of the posterior divisions of the upper, middle, and lower trunks of the brachial plexus.
The Ulnar nerve is located in the joint of the elbow. It is the largest unprotected nerve in the human body, therefore injuries are very common. It is also commonly referred to as the "Funny Bone".
The function of the brachial plexus is cutaneous and muscular innervation of the upper limb. It is a network of nerves running from the spine and neck into the arm.
The first thoracic nerve roots are in the brachial plexus. The nerves pass through the neck, the armpit area, and then into the arm.
Some effective exercises for rehabilitating and strengthening the brachial plexus after an injury include gentle stretching, range of motion exercises, nerve gliding exercises, and strengthening exercises targeting the muscles connected to the brachial plexus. The Brachial Plexus is the nerve plexus from which supplies the upper limb. Its root supply is C5 to T1. This means that the nerves which make it up leave the spinal chord at all the vertebrae between the 5th Cervical Vertebrae and the 1st Thoracic Vertebrae. Brachial plexus is a radical regrouping of the nerve fibers that are araising from the vental rami of C7 to C8 and additionally from T1. Through this network of nerves the entire upper limb will get its nerve supply.
