Transient ischemic attacks.
One of the main causes and reasons for sleep paralysis is that the brain is not moving smoothly between the stages of sleep. Very rarely is the sleep paralysis linked to any psychiatric problems.
A condition which causes part of the brain not to form is called anencephaly.
Cerebellum
Stroke is a medical condition where part of the brain dies as a result from a blood clot. The blod clot blocks the flow of blood to the part, depriving that part of the brain with oxygen and nutrients. As such, paralysis of body parts which that part of the brain controls, ensues.
Amygdala
Permanent paralysis can result from various causes, including severe spinal cord injuries, neurological diseases (such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or multiple sclerosis), stroke, or conditions that damage the nerves, like traumatic brain injuries. These injuries disrupt the communication between the brain and the muscles, leading to a loss of voluntary movement and sensation. In some cases, underlying conditions like infections or tumors can also contribute to paralysis. The degree and permanence of paralysis depend on the severity and location of the injury or disease.
It depends on what part of the brain or spinal cord. If it is in the brain it can cause death or complete paralysis, if it is in the spinal cord e.g. Lower part of the spinal cord you are paralysed from the hips down.
Cerebrum.
Polio is a childhood disease that causes infantile paralysis. It is a highly contagious viral infection that can lead to paralysis and can be prevented through vaccination.
This could be a variation on the phenomenon known as "sleep paralysis," particularly if the dream occurred just before you woke up in the morning. It only means that part of your brain was awakening while another part of your brain was still asleep, and maintaining the mild paralysis of the limbs that is normal during sleep. See the Wikipedia link below on sleep paralysis.
