My doctor told me about 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. i find it odd though how many women have gone through it, even several times and yet no one talks about it. It's a hard situation, but it made me feel like i was the only one going through it

What are the key differences between molar pregnancy partial vs complete, and how do they impact the diagnosis and treatment of this condition?

Molar pregnancy is a rare condition where abnormal tissue grows in the uterus instead of a normal pregnancy. The key difference between partial and complete molar pregnancies lies in the genetic makeup of the abnormal tissue. In partial molar pregnancies, there is an abnormal fetus with some normal placental tissue, while in complete molar pregnancies, there is no fetus and all the tissue is abnormal. Diagnosis of molar pregnancy is typically done through ultrasound and blood tests to measure hormone levels. Treatment usually involves removing the abnormal tissue through a procedure called dilation and curettage (DC). In complete molar pregnancies, there is a higher risk of complications such as persistent trophoblastic disease, which may require additional treatment like chemotherapy. Partial molar pregnancies have a lower risk of complications compared to complete molar pregnancies.

Why might Cells from an advanced malignant tumor most often have very abnormal chromosomes and often an abnormal total number of chromosomes?

The abnormal chromosomes in cells from advanced malignant tumors are a result of genomic instability, a common feature of cancer cells. This instability can lead to chromosome mutations and aneuploidy, where cells have an abnormal number of chromosomes. These abnormalities can drive tumor progression by promoting genetic diversity and enabling the cells to acquire advantageous mutations for survival and growth.

What are the key differences between partial and complete molar pregnancies?

Partial molar pregnancies occur when two sperm fertilize one egg, resulting in an abnormal fetus with some fetal tissue. Complete molar pregnancies happen when an empty egg is fertilized by one or two sperm, leading to abnormal growth of placental tissue but no fetus. Both types can have serious health implications for the mother.

Explain how nondisjunction results in cells with abnormal numbers of chromosomes?

Nondisjunction results in cells with abnormal numbers of chromosomes due to chromosomes not separating properly in meiosis. this causes some cells to end up with to many chromosomes and others to end up with not enough chromosomes. It messes up cell division and development and can lead to death or genetic disorders like down syndrome.

What chromosomes are affected by colon cancer?

Well, Cancer is when abnormal cells divide out of control. The chromosomes are the DNA that controls Cell Division

How can karyotypes detect non disjunction?

Karyotypes can detect non disjunction by showing abnormal chromosome numbers. Non disjunction occurs when chromosomes fail to separate properly during cell division, leading to an imbalance of chromosomes in the resulting cells. Karyotypes can be analyzed to identify any extra or missing chromosomes, indicating the occurrence of non disjunction.

Why would it be more harmful for a mutation to occur in a reproductive cell than a body cell?

If there is mutation in reproductive cell then the zygote will be defective. Then all the body cells will carry the defect as there is division of cells by 'Mitosis'. So whole baby will be defective. If body cell is defective then body immunity will eliminate the same. Fortunately most of the abnormal zygotes are washed in 'normal' menses and lady do not know that she has miscarriage. In first trimester miscarriages most of them are with abnormal chromosomes.
