For an adult to get on a drug like adderall, they have one that is stimulant free, I forget what it is called but that is generally prescribed by either your PCP or a Psychiatrist, they can write all sorts of anti-depressant drugs and other psychotropic drugs. (drugs that alter the brain's chemistry). If your PCP won't write it, then you may have to get a referral to a psychiatrist depending on your insurance plan. Many family doctor's (Primary Care Physicians) won't write for these types of drugs because it is out of their area of expertise.
