We are looking for the possible blood types of a baby.

Parental information:

  • Mother type B --can be BB or BO = contributes B or O gene
  • Father type B -- can be BB or BO = contributes B or O gene
Baby receives one gene from each parent:
  • Baby is type BB = Type B
  • Baby is type BO = Type B
  • Baby is type OO = Type O
If the parents are both Type B, then they will have a baby that will probably be Type B, but might be Type O.

How can two parents with blood type O negative have a child with blood type AB?

It is not possible for two parents with blood type O negative to have a child with blood type AB. In the ABO blood group system, type O is recessive and AB is a combination of A and B, making it impossible for two parents with type O blood to produce a child with type AB blood.

Yes, if both parents have the genotype AO, then the child can have the O from both parents, phenotype O

If both parents are blood type o is it possible for their child to have a blood type a positive?

No, two type O parents can only have type O children. See the table below from www.dna-bioscience.co.uk/did_you_know_abo.shtml If you look at the row for mother's blood type O where it intersects with the column for father's blood type O, you will see that the child's blood type must be O. For the child to be Rh+, only one of the parents has to be Rh+.

Can a parent with ab plus and the other parent with o plus have a child with o plus?

Yes, it is possible for two parents, one with AB+ blood type and the other with O+ blood type, to have a child with O+ blood type. When two parents with different blood types have a child, the child's blood type can be a combination of the parents' blood types through genetic inheritance.

What two blood types from parents produce blood type A in child?

Parents must be blood type A or O. Any other blood type will not result in a sole A type child. It might result in several other combinations though, which are not relevant to this question.
