Arteries in general have the thickest layer of muscle and elastic, in order to cope with the high pressure. To be more specific, the aorta (the largest artery in the body) has the largest layer, because it is dealing with very high pressure, greater than that in any other blood vessel.

Smooth muscle contains no striations whereas cardiac and skeletal muscles are striated.

Myometrium (myo as in muscle)
The smooth muscle found in the muscularis layer of the intestines is found in layers.
The walls of all the arteries are made up of smooth muscle cells.
Tunica media
Smooth muscle has this appearance. Because you don't seen that banding pattern (although it is there), it is given the name smooth muscle.
Tunica Media
In visceral organs: for example, the stomach, urinary bladder, small intestines. Smooth muscle cells are also found in arteries and arterioles
Most of the organs contain smooth muscle. The exception is the heart, which contains cardiac muscle.
The heart contains cardiac muscle. This muscle is involuntary, like smooth muscle, but is made up of different types of cells from food muscle.
