All tube like structures in body contains smooth muscles in them. For example, smooth muscles in bronchi, gastrointestinal tract, ureters of kidneys, muscles in uterus(womb.)and smooth muscles in blood vessels. They are all involuntary muscles. That means they are not under your control but under control of autonomic nervous system.
Smooth Muscle contractions are regulated by calcium ions. The smooth muscle differs from skeletal muscle in that its contracts from all sides.
the radial layer
Uterine myomas are also known as uterine fibroids. These fibroids grow from the smooth muscle layer of the uterus. This smooth muscle wall is known as the myometrium. The fibroids are most commonly benign (non-cancerous) tumors that are typically found during a woman's child-bearing years.
