John Henry ("Doc") Holliday may had either caught Tuberculosis by his mother , Alice Jane (McKey) Holliday (she died from the disease September 16, 1866 when John was 15 [ two years after moving to Valdosta, Georgia from Griffin, Georgia ]) ; or had caught it from one of his patients , while he was a Dentist ( as few of his patients came into his office , coughing and sneezing, while he was working on their teeth ). It is not known exactly when he contracted it, but it is known he had it form the time he was a young man - early 20's, anyhow.

John Holliday, born in Griffin, Georgia, 14 August 1851. His mother died of tuberculosis ("TB") and Holliday suffered from TB for most of his life. He studied at dental school and worked as a dentist in Atlanta, Georgia, before moving to Dallas, Texas, to make his fortune as a gambler. He unfortunately developed a drink problem accompanied by a bad temper. After various shootouts where he killed his opponents, he moved to Denver. Eventually he went to Dodge City (1878) where he befriended Wyatt Earp. Then in 1880 he moved to Dodge City, linking up with Wyatt Earp again. It was here where the famous Gunfight At The OK Corral occurred (October 1881). After many more adventures, John "Doc" Holliday died of tuberculosis on 8 November 1887.
