REM or (Rapid Eye Movement) happens when your asleep, about every 90 minutes in a human and 30 minutes in a dog or cat after they fall asleep until about when they wake up in the morning. A dream lasts from about 5 - 40 minutes. REM happens about every 90 minutes with each one lasting longer than the previous occurance. REM periods come at times when we are not in a deep sleep. Also as the night goes on sleep gets lighter. Someone is more likely to remember the last dream they had because they are closer to being awake, the longest, and they have occured the most recently. It ussualy occurs four or five times every night. The body is paralyzed, heartbeat increases, and the eyes move very quickly from side to side they also move up and down.
Hope that helps

Different stage of sleep. Dreams happen in REM sleep.
REM sleep happens when you are deeply asleep, so you should be able to sleep without being disturbed for at least a few hours, since it may take that long. Although it can happen faster.
Approximately 80% of dreams occur during REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. REM sleep is characterized by increased brain activity and is often associated with vivid and more memorable dreams. While dreaming can occur in other sleep stages, the most intense and elaborate dreams typically happen during REM.
REM rebound involves the tendency for REM sleep to increase following REM sleep deprivation.
The plural form of rem is rem.Ex: I have a lifetime dose of 3 rem.
Yes, it is possible to experience dreams during non-REM (NREM) sleep, although they are typically less vivid and less memorable than those that occur during REM sleep. NREM sleep consists of different stages, and dreaming may happen primarily during the lighter stages of sleep. However, most vivid and narrative-driven dreams are associated with REM sleep.
