When should you buy baby clothes when you are expecting?

You should probably start buying baby clothes around the 5-7 month of pregnancy. If you're unaware of the sex of the baby you shouldn't buy blue or pink as yet, only buy others like yellow and other pale colours.

When your baby gets here you will want to go shopping for clothes and others things then as you will know there sex (for sure) and there personality.

I would go with just the basics until they get here.

If family wants to buy things have them pool together and buy the larger ticket items like a carseat. Or gift certificates would be great to have for later.

Don't be afraid to tell everyone exactly what you need. This makes it a lot easier for everyone as you wont have to take anything back later.

Also be aware that you might have a larger or smaller baby that what you buy clothing for. This is a good reason to just buy a few clothing items now.

A few packs of size small diapers is always a good idea so you don't have to run right out and buy them. If you are using cloth diapers (these are easy to use and cost a lot less in the long run) then they are pretty forgiveing on the sizeing and a small should work for a while regardless of the size at birth. Be sure to check out all your options for where you want to birth also. Birth centers are great places that make you feel more at home than hospitals. Or homebirths are also great. (again Google for homebirths and you will find tons of info.)
