The process is called dark adaptation. It occurs when your photoreceptors in the retina become more sensitive to light in low-light environments after being exposed to bright light.
They become bigger and widder
Your pupil expands in the dark in order to obtain more light. Your eyesight is interpreted by the brain with light signals, when it is dark your pupil expands to grab as much light as possible.
You die. The shadows conflict with the light and cause a chain reaction of spiraling horror. DO NOT TRY AT HOME.

Dark light, bright light and flashing light.
It has something to do with what light happens to be around that person at the time. If there happens to be a bright light shining on an object, that object's 'shadow' will cast itself on whatever is around it. +++ More simply, the "something" is the object blocking the direct light from the source. The air scatters the light so the shadow is not very dark - on the air-less Moon a shadow is fully dark.
It depends if light can travel in it or not. If not, then it will be dark and nothing can go in. If so, then it will look like space, or its surroundings, however bright or dark they are.
The opposite (colors or illumination) is light. In some cases, the opposite would be "bright."bright

I assume the reference is to the line tiger tiger burning bright and this would be with regards to the reflective eyes of the tiger and all cats with regards to light sources as to pupil expands to enable more light to enter and thus allow them to see in the dark
The property of light responsible for producing dark and bright bands on the screen after passing through two slits is interference. When light waves pass through the two slits and overlap on the screen, they interfere with each other either constructively (bright bands) or destructively (dark bands) based on their relative phase.
