Where does physical digestion take place and how?

It begins as soon as you put a piece of food in your mouth. First part of digestion is the surrounding of the food by the saliva. This helps in breaking down and dissolving the food for further processing.

enzymes digest the food . When the enzymes finish digesting the food,the food will have turned into simple substances.the simple substances will then pass through the walls of the small intestines into the blood stream to be carried to all parts of the body.

Physical digestion occurs through out the entire digestive tract. It begins with chewing food and moving in the mouth to chew it more. Swallowing the bolus (chewed food) is also physical. The stomach churns it until it is moved into the small intestine. Further movement occurs along the entire length of 22 feet to the large intestine. It sits there for awhile until the tract gives it a push out.
