The two main types of monerans are bacteria and archaea. Bacteria are unicellular prokaryotic organisms found in various environments, while archaea are similar to bacteria but have distinct genetic and biochemical characteristics.
Bacteria and archaea are the only types of cells that have prokaryotic cell structure. They lack a nucleus and organelles enclosed by membranes, and their genetic material is found in a single circular chromosome.
Bacteria & Archaea
Thermoacidophiles, Halophiles and Methanogens. Additional Note: Themoacidophiles are found in hot springs, Halophiles are found in extremely salty regions and Methanogens are found in the gut of ruminant animals like Cows which are also responsible for the production of methane in the dung of these animals (Biogas).
One of the types of archaea is methanogens, which are microorganisms that produce methane as a metabolic byproduct.
