MD is Medical Doctor. An MS is a Masters of Science and the individual is not a doctor (that would require a PhD). Both an MD and a PhD have a great deal of education past the college level, but I would say that a Medical Doctor has more, particularly when you factor in the Internship that is required.
MS for master of science, MD for doctor of medicine, about 4 years.
An example would have helped. If it's "Dr. O.G. Wottaschnozzle, BS, MS, MD" it means "Master of Science".
Oh honey, MS after MD? That's like saying you want extra cheese on your pizza after ordering a cheese pizza. MD stands for Doctor of Medicine, so adding MS for Master of Science is like trying to put a hat on a hat. It's just extra letters to show off their academic achievements, but hey, it's their name so let them do what they want.
It means your physician has an MD, a "Medical Degree" in allpathic medicine. He also has an MS, a Master's of Science degree. In other words, he is a doctor of medicine and he has a master's degree in some science discipline as well.
