Anorexia affects 1 in every 250 or so people (the number is not exact, since many cases go un-noticed or un-reported). Of those people 90% are female, 10% are male. Usually, anorexia occurs the most between the ages of 12 and 25, but can happen (less commonly, though) outsied of that range. 2/3 of cases of anorexia are in "Western" society, and 95% of all anorexics live in middle- or upper-class families.
Anorexia nervosa
The scientific name for anorexia is Anorexia Nervosa.
Anorexia is the correct spelling.
It is just a shorter version of the full name. Anorexia is short for Anorexia Nervosa. Therefore, Anorexia Nervosa is commonly referred to as Anorexia. (As is Bulimia. Bulimia is short for Bulimia Nervosa.)
Walter Vandereycken has written: 'Anorexia nervosa' -- subject(s): Anorexia nervosa, Therapy, Anorexia Nervosa
I do not think it can be associated with anorexia nervosa, but I think it can be related with bulimia nervosa
