Swollen lymph nodes on one side of your neck can indicate an infection or inflammation in that area, such as a throat infection, dental issue, or ear infection. They may also swell in response to other illnesses, including viral infections like the common cold or flu. If the swelling persists or is accompanied by other symptoms like fever or pain, it’s advisable to consult a healthcare professional for a proper diagnosis.

More info - Hi, I can't get an answer anywhere... so, you know how there are lymph nodes under the ear and behind the jaw; like where there are muscles? Okay, so I've had swollen lymph nodes there before and I got them about a month ago again. At the time they were painful and swollen. Now, I think they just stayed swollen. But they are hard as bone. So is there bone there that I could be feeling? Or are they actual hard, swollen lymph nodes? The right one is a little lower than the left side. They're below the mastoid process. I believe it's in the cervical lymph node region. Any thoughts?
Lymphatic vessels are vein-like tubes connected at one end to the tiny organs known as lymph nodes, which carry the lymph (serum full of white blood cells) from the lymph node to the heart. Lymphatic nodes are part of the Lymphatic System, which helps the Immune System fight against pathogens. Whenever you get sick with the flu or some similar virus, your lymph nodes can become swollen--this is why doctors feel the side of your throat when they check you over at an appointment! They're checking to see if your tonsils (lymph nodes in your throat) are swollen.
You may have an infection in your lymph nodes. You should seek the advice from your physician and get some rest.Ê

Is it just the skin surface that is sore? Or is it deeper and tender when you press on it? If it is tender when you press in, then it is the lymph nodes which are under the skin. They are likely swollen due to some virus you picked up. The nodes on either side of your neck may be sore and swollen as well. It should be fine in a few days.
Loss of lymph nodes from surgery on the affected side often causes poor drainage from the arm on that side. This is why there can be hand and arm swelling.
Hmm I think these are lymph nodes
Sounds like you have an infection. Lymphatic system works similar to the circulation (blood) system, except it only goes one way, whilst the circulation has 2 way traffics (artery and vein). When the lymph swollen it could be caused by infection or tumor/cancer (lymphoma).
