Sometimes cancer can be seen as inherited and other times not. Genetics largely dictate who and what we are--our likes and dislikes for food, our predispositions for vital organ strengths and weaknesses. If it were not for our own unique genetics, we all might be butterflies, or sharks. In one study of identical twins separated at birth through adoptions, etc, it was found that one set of twins married persons having the same first names, lived in the same kind of house, had the same number of kids, and were employed in the same kind of field. The list of coincidental similarities between this pair goes much beyond this very short list. Genetics, it seems, may predetermine intelligence, and choice preferences for a large number of things. Sharks are needlessly being slaughtered because of demand for their cartilage because sharks do not seem to get cancer and it is thought by some cultures that consuming shark cartilage will greatly diminish the chances of getting cancer or that taking it will reverse the disease. So if it were not for our specific genetics, we might be sharks and never be susceptible to the disease. If through our likes and dislikes of how various food tastes (what might be considered a genetic predisposition) we started to eat a food that had a tendency to be contaminated with toxic substances that damaged our cellular DNA or RNA or whatever. Then this would influence the likelihood of us getting certain forms of cancer. In the study of identical twins, it was found that one twin might develop cancer, while the other one would not. To many scientists looking at this result, this is a clear indication that, strictly speaking, this form of cancer was not genetically inherited. However, the diet and environmental situations for both individuals was not scrutinized to a very low level of detail, and the causes of cancer are numerous, so the twin with the disease may have acquired it in any number of ways where the other twin may not have been exposed to the same environmental risk factors or dietary inputs. In recent years it has come to light that germ warfare labs have cross-cultured animal cancer viruses with that of humans, and that accidental or purposeful releases of such infectious agents has occurred too many times to be considered unplanned. It is thought by some medical scientists that the biological system in which a disease agent finds itself determines what kind of diseases manifest themselves, whether or not this is due to pleomorphic forms of pathogens or due to the promotion of the growth and spread of certain pathogens over others in certain environments is not certain. Some alternative medicine practitioners believe that certain toxic compounds attract the growth and development of certain germs, parasites, and fungi. They believe that by ridding one's body of certain of these toxic compounds, and those pathogen types, it greatly reduces the chances that the cancer will continue to grow. Each individual's genetics determines to a large extent the degree of susceptability to different diseases. See related links below...
