They have button eyes to show that they aren't real people like Coraline...
You are for the most part correct- call it weird, but i LOVE the movie and book Coraline, it's a very good piece of work, and i honestly wish i had wrote it- ha ha- anyway, they have buttons because the Other Mother made basically a bunch of rag dolls, who have buttons. Also it is because that's one of the focuses of Neil, that they had buttons, and as the previous person said, to show the major difference.

In Neil Gaiman's "Coraline," there are several similes and metaphors used to enhance the storytelling. One example is the metaphor of the "other mother" representing a dark and twisted version of Coraline's real mother. Another example is the simile comparing the button eyes of the other characters to black seeds, symbolizing their lifelessness and lack of humanity. These literary devices help create a sense of unease and emphasize the contrast between the real world and the eerie alternate reality Coraline discovers.
Caudal means towards the tail. So your chin is caudal to your eyes. Your belly button is caudal to both your chin and your eyes.
Some common examples of characters in media with unrealistic proportions include superheroes with exaggerated muscles, female characters with extremely small waists and large busts, and animated characters with oversized heads or eyes.

To make a Coraline doll, you'll need materials such as fabric for the body (like felt or cotton), thread for sewing, and stuffing for a plush feel. Additionally, buttons can be used for the eyes, and you might want some yarn for hair. Fabric paint or markers can help add details to the face and clothing. Finally, a sewing machine or needle and thread will be necessary for assembly.
