Why do some people oppose transplant?

Some are scared of the operation. Some don't like hospitals. Some don't like accepting that they are ill. Some are grossed out by the idea of keeping a bit of someone else inside of them. Some don't want to have to take medication forever. Some are scared of dying in the operation. Some think they'll take on the donor's characteristics. Some don't want one on religious grounds.

some people oppose having an organ transplant because of their religion. some religions say that the body, once dead, is impure; also, some traditions say that defiling a corpse brings bad luck to the person who does it.

Some people are scared of operation in general. Also there is no guarantee you will survive the operation or that the transplant will be successful. Some people would rather wait until they have to have the transplant or it will be too late.

Other people have religious reasons for not having a tranplant. Though those are very few as most religions allow you to.

Because they think that the body is sacred and your blood is your own and your organs are your own, so there should be no mixing between people etc.

Some people don't like the idea of the organs of their relative being taken out and given to someone else.

Only a tiny minority of people are actually against donating a deceased loved one's organs on a religious ground - this is because they believe that in order for their loved one to go to heaven, their body must be intact (hence their organs are still necessary in the afterlife). Normally this belief is practiced by those of the Shinto religion. (Also, it should be noted that although Jehovah's Witnesses cannot accept a blood transfusion according to their faith, they can accept an organ transplant (or donate their own organs). Although performing a transplant without transfusing blood would be problematic.)
