Because women were falling pregnant before midwives knew about the science of conception and implantation, the only date anyone knew for sure was the date of the LMP (last menstrual period). Also, just because you have sex on a day, does not mean that you conceive on that day- sperm take several days to travel to the ovum, and so the actual date of conception will remain a mystery. When you have your first ultrasound scan, you will be dated based on the size of several parts of the foetus' body, include head circumference and femur length. This will give a much more accurate indication of gestational age, and if you work backwards, you can calculate the date of conception- remember though that the act of love making would have happened a couple of days before. Hope this helps! Aj :)

Conception dates do not depend on the length of your period. Your due date is based on the first day of your last period. Your baby was actually conceived about 2 weeks later.
Most doctors revert back to the first day of your last period.
That is unlikely but possible.
