Why does your stomach swell during pregnancy?

I'm not exactly sure. It could be because your tummy muscles are stretching and if your only a few weeks into your pregnancy, it probably adjusts back to its normal size. But I'm not sure about this.

Well I'm thinking it has something to do with the fact that a baby is growing inside of you, in your uterus, which is near your belly. Not only does the baby grow, so does the amount of fluid that protects the baby, and so does the placenta, the thing that takes nutrition from your body and passes it on to the baby through the umbilical cord. Your stomach isn't swelling, it's growing (well the outside is, on the inside your stomach is actually the same, because the baby isn't in your stomach at all)
