Viruses haven't wiped out the human population due to many people being able to take enough precautions to avoid it all together. Other people are immune to certain viruses that might prove fatal to others. Also, vaccines have been created to reduce deaths among illneses such a the cold virus, flu, fever, etc.

So:

-taking precautions to avoid the virus

-Being immune

-Vaccines

are just a few answers to why the human population hasn't been wiped out by viruses.

Oh, and because we reproduce rather frequently.
