Pancreas is a mixed gland ie it functions both as an endocrine gland and exocrine gland.
The exocrine part of the pancreas produces some enzymes used for digestion, while the endocrine part of pancreas produces two hormones. They are Insulin and Glucagon. The insulin reduces the glucose level in the blood and glucagon increases the glucose level in the blood.
The pancreas produces enzymes and hormones which help digest food. Therefore, the pancreas is important to the stomach and the intestines. They both would not function without the pancreas.

The pancreas is the gland that is important in regulating glucose levels in the body. It secretes insulin to help lower blood glucose levels and glucagon to raise blood glucose levels as needed.
The pancreas has many important functions in the body. If there is dysfunction in the pancreas, such as the autoimmune condition of Type 1 diabetes where the beta cells have been destroyed, they are unable to secrete insulin and the patient's blood sugar can become elevated.

The five accessory organs of the gastrointestinal system are the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, salivary glands, and appendix. These organs play important roles in aiding digestion and the absorption of nutrients in the body.
Food is not digested in the pancreas. In fact, food doesn't pass through the pancreas at all. The pancreas secretes digestive enzymes to the small intestine (duodenum).
