It's called "GERD" or Gastro Intestinal Reflux Disorder. You should see your doctor as soon as possible since it can cause some serious damage to your esophagus. In the meantime, stop eating after 5:00 PM, raise the head of your bed and use a stomach acid blocker. Antacids only help for a short time and aren't that much use for what you describe. There are medications from your doctor to help with the excess acid. The above poster is correct in saying you need to get something done about this very soon. Acid Reflux can cause throat cancer if not looked after. I've had (many people have it) and was given a medication of 3 months and it seemed to do the trick. Never lay flat down, don't eat late at night, stay away from acidic foods and juices, alcohol, smoking, tea and coffee. Drink 8 - 8 ounce glasses of water because it dilutes acids in the stomach and throat and an individual should drink this much water every day anyway.
