serious alcohol and drug addiction can strip you of your entire life...everything and everyone you once cherished and who cherished you....it leaves you with no self respect...no will power....no home...clothes...money...no life....sometimes the prospect of ever trying to get it all back is so unatainable....a lot of people in that position just carry on with the addiction which they and everyone else knows is going to kill them eventually....so that in itself is a form of suicide.....slow but sure
