Why won't my mom let my 12 year old sister Myasha wear tampons?

Your mom probably has some personal reasons. You should ask her to get the right answer, but one of my friend's moms thinks it causes cancer. Just to let you know it DOES NOT. My mom didn't want me to start out with tampons because they're so invasive. It's a little bit scary to think about, to be honest. So, maybe because she's so young:)

Tampons are not recommended to pre-teens or even girls in their early teens because of higher risk of Toxic shock syndrome (TSS). Younger women are less likely to have antibodies to the bacterial toxins responsible for TSS, also vaginal tissues may be more easily torn by tampon use which allows these bacterial toxins to enter the bloodstream more easily, and so a higher risk of TSS.

Also at 12 years old your sister may not be mature enough to know all her options or the risks involved to be able to make an educated choice about whether she should be using tampons. At 12 years old your mom may not think your sister is mature enough to follow precautions to reduce her risks.
