The placenta is packed with many important nutrients that are beneficial for you after giving birth, as that is a time of great change for your body. Also, if you are breastfeeding, it is important to put many of the nutrients that you may have lost during birth back in your body.
There are different ways to "eat" it... I have heard of it being dried out and processed into a powder and then eaten with milkshakes. Another option is to have the placenta dried, powdered, and put into capsules and take them like vitamin supplements.
